British fashion awards 2014

The british fashion awards were held in london last week at the London Coliseum, these awards have been running since 1989 and are used to showcase british designers to the world, old and new ones. They are also to recognise and of course award those who have made outstanding contributions to the fashion industry. The category’s are filled with as you’d expect the usual best male and female as in any award giving function but what I like and am interested in is who are the new ones? Where have they come from? Whats their look? New is exciting! The winners were Marques Almeida and Craig Green. They also recognise the best dressed celebs and for the most prestigious award in my opinion is the outstanding achievement in fashion, it honours the maverick and legend of the winning nominees endless hard work and results. The fierce fashion veteran Anna Wintour was the one to snap up the award this year. Other winners were Erdem for woman swear and JW Anderson for menswear.

Trainers have well and truly become apart of fashion not just the street style scene they are a fashion staple every “it” girl has to have. I love trainers! I myself have a credible collection I’m big on street wear its my style although I don’t like putting my style into one clique if you like because I like to wear a bit of everything, it is very heavily sport/street influenced. From Jordan’s to Balenciaga’s I find them very appealing and who doesn’t like being comfy in your footwear. This trainer trend is dominated by Adidas Stan smiths and superstars which are my favourite a timeless classic and not forgetting Reebok and Nike air forces. Some times people can be shy of wearing them due to fear of not being able to pull them of or sway between will this work or not, but with the help of boyfriend silhouettes becoming big this will be easy. 4 ways I suggest wearing them are:

1. team your trainers with a pair of mom jeans and a cardy for a casual geek inspired look.

2. suit up! a two piece tailored jacket and trousers with you trainer of choice looks so stylish add a tee for day time then a bralet for the party, Kate Moss has rocked this look.

3. A slip dress I recommend black, dazzling white trainers, stacked rings and layered necklaces is effortless pretty cool.

4. slim jeans and oversized shirt simple chic.

Party season what’s hot and what’s not

Christmas party season is here and in full swing, love or loath Christmas there’s a party out there you need to be looking stylish for! Hey who knows who could be under the mistletoe waiting for you. The current trend for party dresses is sequins there everywhere you look on the high street and in magazines, for a cheap as £10 from H&M with good quality material. Nothing says Christmas like resembling a beautiful  sparkly bauble but its difficult to get the balance right between looking stylish yet sexy and chic than looking like a bomb has just exploded in a class room filled with kids and glitter. I’m personally not that into the whole sequins thing so a nice alternative is metallic who doesn’t love a gold dress? Team with subtle monochromatic heels and a clutch to match you’ll be on your way to becoming Christmas supreme. I would avoid bulky jewellery let the dress speak for its self, adding big jewellery can make it become too busy and tacky.

Here are a few of my picks from the high street. From left to right;

1. TFNC scallop sequins two piece can be found on asos for a total of £62.00

2. H&M sequins dress £29.99

3.H&M gold sequins dress personal fav the back low-cut is gorgeous £39.99

4. Miss Selfridge purple Roberta bodycon dress £120.00 NOW £60.00!

GEAR UP ITS SCUBA TIME

Featured image

Lately there has been a sudden surge of neoprene it’s everywhere, this fabric is bang on trend for a few reasons. Its structured, light weight, figure hugging (in all the right places) and generally just looks really neat and put together. All the designers are pushing out neoprene pieces, think of Alexander Wang x H&M his capsule collection was heavily sport chic inspired and scuba was everywhere. From the dresses to the famous crop ‘Wang’  logo jumper and may I add the scuba joggers that I love! Which are still available to buy. This collection was such a huge success and was one of the most highly anticipated designer and high street collaborations of all time. You can get scuba pieces, be on trend and not dip into your overdraft thanks to the ever so trusting asos. they have many pieces in on their own range ‘asos’ here a few of my firm favourites. Team the trousers with a pair of sandal heels and over sized shirt tucked into the waist and you’ll be effortless chic.  If you do want to treat yourself there is a beautiful mochino scuba jacket for a bargain of only £120.00 on sale here is the link.
